Delete your Casper Sleep account
Casper Sleep is operated by JOSE FRANCISCO ANTUNES LDA, registered at R DO FIGUEIRAL EDF QTA VILLAGE GARAJAU BL D 4CA 9125-063 CANICO, PORTUGAL. This page explains how to delete your account and what happens to your data.
Only want to remove one child's data and keep your account? Go straight to Delete only part of your data.
Delete your account from the app
- Open Casper Sleep and sign in as a parent.
- Go to Settings, open Account & data, and choose Delete my account.
- Tap Request deletion, then answer the parent check. This confirms an adult is making the request: the app asks for your account password, or for the answer to a simple sum.
- The app fills in your request number and confirmation code. If it cannot, we email both to the address on your account.
- If you have an active subscription you will also see a notice about your billing — please read it, as deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play.
- Tap Delete my account permanently, answer the parent check once more, and confirm.
Deletion starts as soon as you confirm, and continues on our side even if you close the app. The app waits for the cleanup to finish and then signs you out.
Confirm while the request is still open. A deletion request expires after a short time; if yours has expired, start again from the Request deletion step.
On the web app the same flow lives in Settings, under Sharing & privacy: choose Request account deletion, and then Confirm deletion.
If you cannot access the app
If you have uninstalled Casper Sleep, lost access to your device, or cannot sign in, email privacy@caspersleep.ai from the address your account uses and ask us to delete your account.
We will verify that you own the account before acting on the request. We may ask you to confirm details only the account holder would know. We will never ask you to email a photo of an identity document.
We respond within 30 days, and usually much sooner.
Cancel your subscription first
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription you bought through the App Store or Google Play. Those are managed by Apple and Google, and only you can cancel them:
- iPhone or iPad: Settings > your name > Subscriptions > Casper Sleep > Cancel
- Android: Play Store > profile > Payments and subscriptions > Subscriptions > Casper Sleep > Cancel
If you subscribed on the web, your subscription is cancelled when your account is deleted.
Cancel first, then delete. If you delete your account while a store subscription is still active, you will keep being charged by Apple or Google and we will no longer have an account to refund.
What is deleted
When your account is deleted, we erase:
- Your account and sign-in details, including your email address, password and passkeys
- Every child profile on your account, and everything attached to it
- Your synchronised library: stories, drafts, characters, worlds, playlists, preferences and playback history
- Any story audio or illustrations still held in our short-term delivery buffer
- Story share links you created, and the encrypted stories behind them
- Your push notification registrations and notification preferences
- Your saved payment identity with our payment processor
- Your support conversations and every message in them
- Any record of a cancelled or revoked store subscription
What we keep, and for how long
Three things survive account deletion, because the law requires us to keep them or because they cannot be altered once written. None of them can be used to sign in, and none contains your prompts, your stories or your child's details.
| What we keep | How long | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A security audit trail, with your identity removed | Kept indefinitely | Security and legal obligations. An append-only record that nothing can delete entries from, holding a scrambled stand-in for your account, the kind of action and when it happened — no name, no email address, no prompts, no stories and no child details. Copies kept in our write-once archive are held for 7 years. |
| A record of anything our support staff did on your account | Kept indefinitely | So that staff access to any account can always be accounted for. Unlike the row above, this one does identify the account it concerned. It records the action and when it happened, never your prompts, your stories or your child's details. Copies kept in our write-once archive are held for 7 years. |
| Payment and refund records, with your identity removed | 7 years, then deleted | Accounting and tax, refund investigations, and so a purchase from a deleted account cannot be attached to a new one. It holds a scrambled version of the payment reference, the product, the amount and the date — no name, no email address, and nothing that points back to you. If Apple or Google ask us about a specific payment they can quote its reference and we can match it; we cannot go the other way and work out whose it was. |
| Invoices for anything you bought | As required by tax law | Held by Apple or Google, not by us. |
Delete only part of your data
You do not have to delete your account to have data deleted. You can remove one child completely, and everything belonging to that child goes with them.
- Open Casper Sleep and sign in as a parent.
- Open Your family and tap the child you want to remove.
- Choose Delete profile.
- Answer the parent check. This confirms an adult is making the request: the app asks for your account password, or for the answer to a simple sum.
- Confirm. The deletion runs on our servers straight away, not only on the device you are holding.
This removes that child's profile and appearance details, their stories, narration and illustrations, their share links, their playback history, their story library and playlists, and their saved preferences — from our servers and from every device signed in to your account. The parental consent recorded for that child is withdrawn at the same time.
Your account, your subscription and your other children are not affected.
Two things are worth knowing. Asking again for a deletion that has already happened simply succeeds — it is not an error. And a deletion is refused while a story is still being made for that child, so that a finished story cannot arrive after the data was removed; wait for it to finish and try again.
Categories of data cannot be deleted individually. To remove everything, delete your account.
